The Sound
Rooted in folk and roots traditions, their sound pulls from unexpected directions such as musical theatre and soul, wrapped around two voices that stop a room. Their music combines modern folk rock sounds like The Civil Wars and The Milk Carton Kids with classic Johnny & June vibes, tied together with masculine Leonard Cohen-esque songwriting from Adam and a Kathleen Edwards-ish feminist delivery from Andrea.
Their unforgettable live shows have earned critical acclaim across 500+ performances, including dozens of festivals and a 30-show tour of New Zealand in 2026.
In 2025, Adam received “finalist” designation in the 26th Annual Great American Song Contest for his song “Road Living”.
“Last night’s polished performance with Andrea & Adam Zonnis felt more like theatre than a gig, with that rare sense of connection you only get when music is shared up close, playing to a full house.” – Down By The River, Kaiapoi, New Zealand

The Story
Andrea Zonnis
Growing up in the sleepy town of 1980’s Kelowna, Andrea dreamed of traveling the world. Discovering her voice at an early age, she quickly became enthralled with the opportunities that music afforded her, with invitations to perform at local and regional events, followed by band trips and then a move to Victoria to pursue an education in opera and musical theater.
Discovering her passion for songwriting in her mid 20’s, she switched gears towards writing rock, funk, and pop songs, which opened new doors for performance and touring. Her natural expressive character tends toward dynamic and emotive lyrics, and a strong message of personal empowerment.

Adam Zonnis
Forced into violin lessons at the tender age of 5, with trumpet and music theory following in high school, Adam discovered in his early 20’s that all he ever wanted to do was rock out on the guitar.
He bought his first six-string while backpacking through Vietnam and taught himself to play, inspired by other musicians he met along the way.
Finding his calling as a songwriter soon followed, and he has since penned countless songs in various genres.
Discovering Love
‘Twas a dark and stormy night in 2008, and when Adam walked into an open mic that Andrea was hosting at The Bent Mast, a local fixture in Victoria’s James Bay neighbourhood.
Their eyes met, and destiny became history, as they were married only 18 months later.
Committing to music fully together in 2014, they played over 500 shows under the stage name “Zonnis” before rebranding to their current “Andrea & Adam Zonnis” in 2026.
Their travels have taken them on numerous trips to Latin America, Southeast Asia, Japan, and New Zealand, with future tours in the works.
